Fortune’s Best Companies to Work For 2016

The annual list of ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ compiled by Fortune is now available. There are no clear changes in the listing, but Google continues its rule as the king of the workplace. It’s seventh year for Google’s triumph, however it’s the first one for Alphabet — the united conglomerate for all-things-Google founded last year.

There are six newcomers, though, but they don’t go further than No. 30 – like Hilton Hotels and No.56. GoDaddy, IKEA US and Sheetz are returning players. So, as you can see, the list is quite conservative.

The first 20 companies of the list are:

  1. Alphabet (Google)

In 2015, Larry Page and Sergey Brin completely upended their colossus, returning as a huge structure built to discover, invent and grow further. Their plans didn’t change, same as their employees policies. Google is still a company anyone would work for, for seventh time in a row for last 10 years.

  1. ACUITY Insurance

This insurance company doesn’t take it too seriously, so their “Have Fun” set of ideas works for second time (last year, ACUITY was placed at No.3). ACUITY takes seriously the lifes of their employees, though: paid leaves, comfortable workplaces, summer picnics, all grounded with high salaries (above $16 000 than industry average).

  1. The Boston Consulting Group

The key points for those working for BCG is the ability to take a leave from 3 to 12 months, and the ability to work with various popular institutions such as Techno Serve, the World Food Programme, Clinton Health Access initiative, Education Pioneers, Green Dot, Gates Foundation, Ethiopian Agricultural Agency and Yunus Social Business.

The most interesting thing here is that BCG has basically exchanged No. with ACUITY – BCG was No. 2 in 2015.

  1. Wegmans Food Markets
  2. Quicken Loans
  3. Robert W. Baird
  4. Kimley-Horn and Associates
  5. SAS Institute
  6. Camden Property Trust
  7. Edward Jones
  8. Genentech
  9. W.L. Gore & Associates
  10. Nugget Market
  11. The Container Store
  12. Ultimate Software
  13. Burns & McDonnell
  14. David Weekley Homes
  15. CHG Healthcare Services
  16. NuStar Energy
  17. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants
